How You Get Married Can Be Just As Important As Why

Banff Elopement Photographers

Saying “I do” is a milestone moment, and we want it to feel like yours without the pressure of doing what’s expected. But no matter what, your wedding day should feel meaningful. It should represent the love you share. And with us on your team, it will.

“From the initial consult call, to our elopement day, to receiving sneak peeks and our full gallery, Liz and Dom were there to answer all of our questions. Everything turned out absolutely amazing!”

"Working with Elope Wilder was a dream come true! We reached out to Liz and Dom 4 months before our wedding day as we had some unexpected changes to our original plans, and they were able to help us rethink what our day would look like and get a plan together. They both are so kind and thoughtful which made us feel really comfortable and like we were with friends. We would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking of eloping in the mountains!"

If you hear us whisper “ohhh this light,” just know it’s a good sign.

Together, we set out to make elopements feel

Combining our expertise in planning and photography with our knowledge of the Canadian Rockies and beyond, we set out with cameras in hand, and Sour Patch Kids in our pockets, ready to serve our clients with a fun, safe, and memorable day.

THE STORY OF ELOPE WILDER

We’d both been Banff photographers for years, but the idea of working together just made sense. We wanted to help couples who didn’t feel drawn to a big, traditional wedding create something that actually felt like them.

That’s how it was for us. Within minutes, we were finishing each other’s sentences, swapping snacks, and realizing we saw elopements the exact same way.

You know that feeling when you’ve only just met someone, but it feels like you’ve known them for years?

TWO PERSPECTIVES. TWO SKILL SETS.

One seamless experience

Because when you can relax and be present, your day naturally becomes unforgettable. And that’s exactly what we’re here to capture.

When you choose us as your Banff elopement photographers, you don’t just get two people with cameras. You get twice the support, twice the perspective, and the peace of mind that everything’s taken care of.

You’ll never have to worry about what’s being missed or feel like you need to perform; we’ll step in when needed and disappear when you just want to be.

(And best of all, you won’t feel the need to chat with us all day. Take your quiet moment together, and we’ll entertain ourselves.)

Our 13 years of experience in the mountains will help you:

You know, the ones we’ve scouted over years of exploring (and shamelessly gatekeep for our couples).

Experience exclusive locations that aren’t on the usual trail lists.

01.

(Think: extra layers, snacks, backup snacks, and a med kit for those just-in-case moments).

Stay warm, fed, hydrated, and gloriously unbothered because we’ll make sure we tell you everything you need.

02.

No backtracking, no “wait, where do we go now?” moments. Just a mix of views, fun adventures, and the kind of stops you only find with years of local wandering.

Have a day that feels curated, not chaotic.

03.

We know how to create activities and experiences that fit seamlessly into your elopement vision, so that you can simply enjoy.

Add a touch of excitement because adventure is for everyone.

ALWAYS ON YOUR TEAM ALWAYS ON YOUR TEAM ALWAYS ON YOUR TEAM ALWAYS ON YOUR TEAM ALWAYS ON YOUR TEAM ALWAYS ON YOUR TEAM

Liz

Basically a human golden retriever with a camera. Ironically, I also have a golden retriever (Timber!). I bring a lot of energy, a little goofiness and a genuine excitement to every couple I work with. Truth be told, I fell in love with the outdoors way before I fell for weddings. If you’re the kind of person who’d choose a mountaintop over a ballroom and trail maps over table decor— same here.

My love of photography started with a point-and-shoot and far too many blurry photos of my dog mid-zoomies. But before I became an elopement photographer, I spent ten years as a First Responder, which taught me how precious everyday moments are. That perspective is a big part of why documenting meaningful experiences matters so much to me. When I'm not behind the camera, you can usually find me hiking, trail running, in a lightsaber battle with my kiddos or camping with a cup of coffee in hand.

Dom

My own elopement story says a lot about who I am, so it feels like the right place to start. I met my husband on a flight from Calgary to Chicago in 2016. Two years later, we quietly got married in front of our Christmas tree on the winter solstice, wearing t-shirts. The next summer, we hiked into a remote alpine lake in Kananaskis for our backpacking elopement. When our daughter was born in 2020, we named her Aster after that lake, which tells you everything about how sentimental we are.

I have always been an experiences > things kind of person, which is a big part of why I care so deeply about this work. Your wedding day deserves to reflect who you are, and your photos deserve to keep those memories alive in a way that feels honest and intentional.

When I am not behind the camera, you can find me camping, hiking, gardening, working on DIY acreage projects, or reading fantasy novels.

Every Experience Is Rooted In

OUR VALUES

MEANING

We believe your wedding day should become one of those stories you still talk about years from now. The kind you remember when you’re older, a little nostalgic, and looking back on a life well lived. Choosing to have a big adventure together creates a memory that lasts far beyond the day itself.

CONNECTION

Because the best photos come from genuine comfort and trust, not awkward poses from the 80s. We take the time to get to know you, to make sure you feel relaxed in front of the camera and free to just be yourselves. When you feel comfortable, everything else falls into place.

02.

PRESENCE

You deserve to actually experience your wedding day, not just rush through it. That means slowing down, breathing it in, and letting yourself feel everything that’s happening. We’ll handle the details, the timing, and the photos so you can focus on the good stuff.

01.

WHO YOU ARE

Your day doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. If you want to sit beside the lake and say your vows over a cup of coffee, then that’s what you’re going to do. The only “rule” here is that it should feel good to you

You’re Welcome Here

TO ALL COUPLES OF ALL KINDS:

Whoever you are, wherever you come from, and however you love, there’s space for you here.

We’re proud to photograph couples of every background, identity, orientation, and ability. What matters to us isn’t how your love looks, but how it feels. Our job as Banff photographers is to make sure your wedding day feels safe, celebrated, and completely your own.

Because you deserve to be fully seen, exactly as you are.

Every couple who chooses to get married in the Rockies becomes part of something bigger than a beautiful backdrop. These mountains, lakes, and trails are living spaces we all share, and protecting them means they can be enjoyed now and for generations to come.

Leave No Trace

That’s why we follow Canada’s Leave No Trace principles.

They’re rooted in science-based education and responsible outdoor recreation, and they guide how we plan, explore, and move through every location. Our goal is simple: help you have the wedding experience of your dreams while ensuring the places that make it possible stay healthy, vibrant, and wild for the next people who stand in that same spot.

PROTECTING THE PLACES THAT MAKE YOUR DAY POSSIBLE

IN PRACTICE, THAT LOOKS LIKE:

  • Planning ahead so your elopement is safe, smooth, and well-prepared
  • Traveling and exploring only on durable surfaces to protect fragile terrain
  • Disposing of waste properly (yes—even the tiny stuff)
  • Leaving natural features exactly as we found them
  • Keeping campfires minimal or choosing no-fire options when needed
  • Respecting wildlife by giving animals plenty of space
  • Being considerate of other visitors and sharing the outdoors kindly

We take photos that capture the spirit of your adventure and the heart of your connection
