Its crystal-clear waters, surrounded by rugged peaks and larch forests, offer a surreal setting. Access is limited via a reservation-only shuttle or a challenging hike, making it perfect for those craving privacy and pristine wilderness. Best Time of the Year for an Emerald Lake Wedding

Emerald Lake and Yoho National Park are some of our fave places to explore all year round but there are definitely some considerations to keep in mind when planning your Emerald Lake wedding.

Peak season in Yoho is July-September which means that’s when the most crowds are out. It’s peak season for a reason though, the trails are in good shape, the wildflowers are out in July/August, and then the larches are turning golden in late September.

Come winter, some of the roads and hikes are inaccessible due to the snowpack and it can get bitterly cold. That being said, it’s also a magical time of the year with beautiful soft light, no crowds, fluffy snow and a lot of fun options for your Emerald Lake wedding. Think snowshoeing, dog sledding, ice fishing, winter hiking, skiing, backcountry huts, or a cozy lodge elopement. The possibilities are truly endless. One of my favourite things about Emerald Lake in the winter, is that there is usually a little patch of open water next to the lodge that doesn’t freeze and it’s just stunning. Also, the natural bridge in the winter is incredible.
